Floral Illustration Calendar

Throughout 2020, I did a series of floral illustrations paired with the months of the year (and a few scattered words). I tried to pick different flowers to use and played with different experiments. I used Procreate on my iPad to do everything and had a lot of fun working on each one.

Once the year was over, I decided to make myself a desktop calendar so I could continue to enjoy the florals throughout the new year!

I tried to pick flowers that were semi representative of each month. Roses felt right for February for example and lilies for April. I chose a magnolia for May since it was my birth month and its one of my favorites. In June, I did juniper berries I walked by with some friends outside. And July was inspired by the state I was in : California Poppy.

I uploaded the images to Shutterfly and just LOVE how the calendar came out. I normally treat myself to one of these calendars a year and place it in the same spot near my kitchen window. The last few years, I’ve done pictures of travel but seeing as my travel was very different this year, I changed things up a bit.

I’ll be sharing out the rest of the “words” I created soon but am thinking of continuing these florals into 2021. I also plan on using them for some more letterpress work in the new year. I don’t plan on listing these for sale, but if you are interested, I can help you out with an order from Shutterfly! Simply shoot me an email to get started.

I also letterpressed some cards using three of these florals. If you want to see those, check out this blog post!
