Travel: Iceland
I went to Iceland last year and loved it so much, I had to go back. Iceland Air had a great deal, when you fly to Europe, you can stop-over in Iceland for up to a week for free! I 100% took advantage of the deal to explore this beautiful country again.
This time, however, I was accompanied by my boyfriend. It was so much fun to experience this place with him. We did the same thing that I did last year by taking an overnight flight and ending up at the Blue Lagoon first thing in the morning.
This, by far, is the best way to do it. While we were in the water, I was exhausted and it was sleeting on us! But the water was relaxing and restful. I keep looking at going back for a weekend just to go to the lagoon. We ate there a huge delicious meal and left happy & refreshed.
Back in the city, the weather finally started to break and we got a glimpse of a beautiful rainbow.
On a rainy afternoon, we explored the Harpa. There are little nooks to read and sit in, and shows all the time. There are also some little shops you can peak into.
My boyfriend got to try an Icelandic hot dog! Very classy. We also had breakfast at a delicious little cafe we stumbled upon.

We went into the Hallgrímskirkja. Unlike the last time, I went up the clock tower and got to see this gorgeous view of Reykjavík. I loved the color that showed up from all the roofs and buildings.
On our second day, after breakfast, we headed south. We saw Seljalandsfoss, the hidden beauty of Gljúfurárfoss & Skógafoss.
Since we made it to Skógafoss when it wasn't raining, we climbed the crazy stairs to get to the top!
Finally, we went to see the black sand beaches. It was far less windy than the last time I was there so we wandered down the beach quite a ways.
At Reynisfjara, I saw up close the rocks that legends are made from.We also stopped and saw Sólheimajökull, a glacier. I sat for a bit and watched pieces of it float out to sea.
My boyfriend even found coffee there. Of course, he would. And the road leading up to it was paved this year (last year it was dirt and gravel!)
The next day we did a mini drive up the golden circle to see Þingvellir National Park. It was very rainy when we got there.The fissures in the earth there were as gorgeous as ever as was Öxarárfoss, the waterfall.
On the way back to Reykjavik, we stopped at Mosfellskirkja, a beautiful hilltop church. There were horses nearby and you could see the storms in the distance.
The church is still active and was made by someone named Stefan (my little brother's name)!
After exploring all day, we headed back to the old harbor to get some food at a brewery, and ice cream at Valdis!
