A few years ago I saw some girl on pinterest redo a gumball machine and I fell in love immediately. I always had the project on my radar but never got around to doing it. Then, when I was visiting my cousin a few weeks ago, her daughter happened to be getting rid of their old gumball machine.

What was great about the one they were throwing out was that it had legs already. If I was going to buy one to just paint, I didn’t want to shell out a ton of money for the machine AND the stand.

Also, the stand was already painted black. Ideal for my little black and white house. I started by ripping apart the machine and trying to remember how all the pieces fit together.

Then I taped everything off I didn’t want white and spray painted it!

It took a lot of thin coats and I tried to be very careful not to get any runs in the paint down the sides of the machine.

The result was beautiful. I picked up some black & white gumballs at wal-mart and threw a quarter into my machine and it came out great! Here is the before and after shot!

This super easy project cost me all of 4 bucks for the white spray paint (and I guess a little more for the gumballs, but that money I’ll get back in quarters!) I highly recommend trying this out.
