Some coworkers of mine invited me camping at Switzer Lake outside of my old college town of Harrisonburg, Virginia. I was hesitant to go at first because I had a lot of work that I needed to get done over the weekend. But after some consideration (and checking the weather) I went for it. I am incredibly thankful I did because I really needed a weekend to disconnect from everything! The day started out cloudy and rainy but was still peaceful.
When the sun broke through though, the lake came alive and was gorgeous.
I borrowed the coolest tent from a friend and slept elevated above the ground.
Here is the view I had laying inside of it.
I didn’t pack much in the way of food, so I stuck to the basics.
I didn’t sleep that great because I was terrified of something happening to me (of course). But when the sun rose I got a little nap in. We spent the rest of Sunday relaxing and taking in the water.
That morning I pulled out my day hammock to get a new view and try to recover from my lack of sleep.
They are trying to get me to go camping again with them in October. We shall see if I do any better the next go-around!
