Letterpress: Beautiful Things

A famous graphic designer, Saul Bass, once said, "I want to make beautiful things even if nobody cares." Bass has created some amazing work in his time, from movie posters to logos.

Even if you know nothing of design, I guarantee you have seen something, probably in the past twenty four hours, that was created by Saul Bass. I feel like this quote defines what I do right now, as I am sure it does for many other young artists and designers.

For the lock up, I used a condensed 2 Inch wood type paired with some coordinating san-serif metal.

I printed this on some thick pre-coated card stock so it has a slightly grey hue to it. The final size is 8x10 inches and slides nicely into a standard black frame. It’s hard for me to remember most days, but I truly think I need to model more of my art making after this.
