Colors of Colorado Watercolor Artwork
I met so many lovely people in Colorado over the last two years that it go bumped up in this list of my “Colors of” series. The state is hands down one of my favorites and I’d like to spend more time there in the future.
As I’ve gone on with this series, its been fun to add more textures into the swatches to highlight the colors I am trying to get at. In this one, ‘rapids’ has hidden water reflections and there are some pine needle shapes inside of ‘blue spruce.’
Just like others I had to do some fun googling to fill things in when I ran out of colors I had seen alone the way. Researching state fish, birds and fauna makes it a fun project. Its also interesting to see just how many states share some overlapping things.
On this piece, it’s a toss up between ‘Palisade Peach’ and ‘Chipmunk’ for my favorite. When I was just there in September, I had some lovely peach wine that maybe snuck that one in the lead.
Colors of Colorado is listed for sale on Etsy so you can pick up a print over there . I have two more in the works which I hope to finish before the holidays.
