Letterpress "not all those who wander are lost" notecards
One of the first things I ever printed was one a line from a poem by J.R.R. Tolkien. The poem appears in The Lord of the Rings and is titled "All that is Gold does not Glitter." I also used this quote under my picture in my high school yearbook.
I set the poem in Caslon and found some drop cap letters that were a little challenging to lock up. The lock up on the chase looked pretty solid. Here is an OLD picture of me printing it on the 8x12 C&P at the VisArts Center.
I printed it on cream flecked paper, a soft blue, and sage green. These remain one of my favorite prints to date. I sold out of a stack of them, but made sure to put one of each color to the side to save for my future self.
The subtle impression of the letters on the colored paper is a nice change of pace from my usual black & white combos.
