Calligraphy Wedding Vows

When my friend Brad found his wonderful partner, Joan, I was ecstatic. The first time I met her when they were dating, I just felt it was special. She kept up with him and put up with him and was just so independent and strong in her own right. They got engaged at the end of 2020 and I actually got to design their wedding invitations.

After their ceremony, I asked them to send me their wedding vows so I could give it to them as a present.

I made sure to use the same style that they had chosen on their invites to do the calligraphy for the vows. The paper is a simple bristol board and I used black sumi ink to do the writing. The final size is easily frame-able at 11x14 inches. I sent pictures to the couple as I wrote and they are so excited to get the final product.

Their vows were self-written and so much fun. I have never had to write the word “capricious” in calligraphy once, let alone TWICE on a piece in my career! Hope in the future I can do a few more vow projects and find some other exciting vocabulary as I go.

I am so happy for them and hope this reminds them of their vows in years to come.
