Living Room Refresh

Durning the pandemic I started to slowly swap out pieces of my living room. I replaced my coffee table, end table & couch. I also received some gorgeous hand me downs from friends that included an live edge circle end table, leather eames recliner & a small entry shelf. With the influx of new pieces, it was time to repaint & rethink. Here is what my living room looked like at the start of 2022.

I was really happy with how it was and felt like it finally came together well, but the beach blanket brightness had worn off on me after the years of being stuck at home for work.

Also, once I built my pass through to the kitchen, the color wrapped in unintended ways. Rethinking the color that pulled from the kitchen into the living room and back was where my head was at.

I settled in in Sparkling Sage. This color still had some hints of the last living room while being softer to the eye. I was really hoping that it wasn’t so bold at night and it looked more neutral once the light started fading in the evenings.

I painted a swatch on paper and then moved it around the living room and kitchen at different times of day. This helped me get a feel way better than a normal tiny piece and was way less commitment than painting it on the wall itself. Once I decided I was good to go, I hired someone to help me paint.

For a week my house was utter chaos, but I am so thankful I had someone else come in and take care of this job. They fixed some cracks in the walls, patched everywhere I had pieces hanging and did a fabulous job. I couldn’t have asked for a better result.

Once the room was done, I started putting it all back together. I started by building a matching set of shelves to the left side on the right.

The gif makes it look way more fun than it was. Trust me. And here is a final living room shot (including my new Frame TV with a photo I took in Montana).

This room feels so much better now, and so much more me. I love the softness of the sparkling sage and the built ins.

I also redid the stairwell art while I was at it. The colors that were near the bottom didn’t match the updates to the living room. I moved around a few other pieces to fit the space better as well, and purchased some updated art to tie it all together.

Here are some details from the shelves I installed too.

Since the paint wrapped through the kitchen, here are some shots of how that area is looking post refresh. I didn’t do much else in this space but did swap the print above the bar to match.

I was always grateful to have this home but am so much more pleased spending time in my refreshed living room. It has come so far from when I bought the house. Check out this other post about mantel work & the end table I made. Hope you enjoyed a scroll through my new living room.
