Travel: Belgium

After Amsterdam, we took the train to Belgium on Thanksgiving day. We had a delicious meal on the train and the Airbnb I booked was just around the corner from the train station. Our host owned a candle shop which was gorgeous so we met her inside to grab our key. Our Airbnb was much nicer than the one we stayed in in Amsterdam and had a great view.

We unpacked and went off to Delirium for a quick beer. For dinner that night we got this amazing stew at Fin de Siècle. We also got our fill of waffles while walking around the city center.

The next morning we had booked an early morning chocolate tour. It was hands down one of my favorite things we did on the entire trip. They started us off at the original site of the first Godiva store and brought us to eight different shops around the city. The tour was small, around eight people but there was a family of four who was from Richmond as well! It really is a small world.

The tour also went over some historic sites and details from around the city.

In each chocolate shop we got to try exclusive samples. Oh my goodness - it was amazing! I didn't think I could hit a chocolate limit but they got me there. We also did a "chocolate class" where we tasted some more, and made goodies to bring home.

They focused a lot on the history of the different chocolate shops and highlighted each places' specialties.

After the tour we grabbed a train to Bruges for the afternoon. The town already had their Christmas market set up, so we got goodies and wandered through ice skaters and pop up shops.

This was a magical little town. There wasn't too much to DO but it was gorgeous and well worth the short train ride.

We finished up that night back in Brussels eating mussels and a traditional dinner. While we didn't stay long, I felt like I got a good idea of what the city was like.
