This year, instead of just getting one tattoo in the fall, I went a month apart and got two done. I wanted to finish up the inside of my arm which I had been dreading. I took a half day on a Friday in September to get my first one done. For this tattoo, I got a skeleton key that was owned by my grandmother and some Wild Honeysuckle. These are actual Azalia which bloom in May, my birth month. The reference image I gave to my artist to use was from a book called "Wild flowers drawn and colored from nature." Here is the illustration and the cover of the book:The book was originally owned by Emily Dickinson and was gifted by her father in 1859. It can now be found in Harvard's Library or viewed online. My artist did all the flowers free hand. The bright colors you see below are from all the different pens he used to lay it out. The only part he traced directly was from the image of the key I had given him. Here is the final tattoo. I just love it. The details in the flowers just blow my mind!A month after that, I headed back down for another session for my lower arm. I am glad I got it in two pieces because dang the inside hurt! I thought maybe I has just forgotten what getting inked felt like and that was why it was painful, but when he did some bits on my outer arm, I realized it was just the interior that was sensitive. After each of my tattoos I always go and eat ALL THE BURGERS at Jack Browns. I always starving and its fun to have a cold bear and greasy bun.And here is the final of tattoo number two. I got cherry blossoms and a Q Letterpress block.
