Letterpress: Floral Illustration Greeting Cards

FloralIllustration.jpg

Through the year I have been working on some floral illustrations using my iPad. It’s been a fun little project and you can see pictures from it on Instagram here. Earlier this year I printed a bunch of Dogwood cards in coral as a test to see how the illustrations translated into letterpress. Needless to say, they printed great and I knew I needed to do a few more.

I had a stack of free paper I wanted to use, so I set about doing some vertical cards of California poppies & chrysanthemums! I ordered more polymer plates and ran through the full stack in an afternoon.

Printing in bulk like this goes so smoothly. I was also trying different line thicknesses on the florals to see which ones read well or looked the best on a card.

I absolutely am in love the little flower polymer plates. I just want to make a full bouquet of them! I can also order a bunch at a time which makes it even more fun.

Since I had extra paper, I reprinted the dogwoods as well. The grey envelopes were on sale (yay!) from Cards & Pockets. They have the slightest shimmer to them which is really beautiful in the light.

I tried a slightly different paper on these than the ones I printed in March. I think this texture was slightly softer and lended itself well to the flowers. I plan on doing another round of florals on some cotton so I have a bunch of different options.

I have a bunch for sale on Etsy! Pick up the dogwoods here, the poppies here and the mums here. And if you are interested in getting any in bulk, reach out to me.
