Navy Letterpress Wedding Invitations: Kristina & Hundley
I’ve known both parties of this couple separately for a few years. They met working in a shared office and I had the opportunity to watch their relationship grow from the earliest of days. When Kristina approached me about wanting to help PRINT her own wedding invitations, I was totally on board.
Together they filled out my questionnaire and when we met at a local restaurant to review sketches we were already pretty close to a final design. A shuffle of an image here, a swap of type there and we were set to go.
We then set a date to print, and while the pandemic got in the way a bit, we made it work! Kristina joined me in my home and watched the process of printing her invitations unfold. She snapped some pictures of the process while I worked and I let her pull a few of her own invites on the press. I loved being able to show off how it all worked. She really cherished the ability to participate in the day too.
The process is the fun messy part! While printing, we had some trouble getting the invite EVEN itself. Every other pass though worked like a dream. The invites were two color and we included a set of thank you cards as well for her bridal shower and gifts.
Here is the final suite. The tree was printed in the lightest grey with a bit of the blue left on the press to tie it into the type.
For paper we used Flurry Cotton. Some of the paper that got sent through was actually DOUBLE the weight so thank goodness I had some extras from another suite to use.
The blue came out beautifully across all the pieces.
I love including thank you cards in the mix. They are great because they go BEYOND the wedding day itself and if you end up with extras it’s handy to have in stock. It’s also a nice reminder of you wedding stationery past the day. The tree on these was the full image that was hinted at on the invites in grey. The full bloom comes into view after the couple comes together.
I love the colors in this suite. Simple greys & blues come together with florals in such a gorgeous light. Dreamy through and through.
And one of my favorite things to do for a couple, is turn their invites into a Christmas ornament! This is such a special little treat that I can give them at the end of printing invites. And such a unique way to hold onto the memory.
