Throwback Letterpress: Silver Ink Business Cards
This is a throwback post to my first experiment in setting letterpress business cards. I made these in February of 2012. I ran a short run of business cards on the Platen Press at the Visual Art Center. It was my first time printing something this small. Paul, my instructor, helped a lot during the process. I chose to do small cards for my graphic design focused website.
The cards are printed on mohawk black paper with silver oil based ink. Since my website typography is done in Helvetica, I decided to use the same font here. I am pretty happy with how they turned out and it was nice doing small little cards on the big machine!
Above is my type locked into the chase and then below is the chase locked into the Platen Press.
Here is the platen press coated with silver ink while I was running my cards.
Here is a little stck of final cards that I had just pulled off the press!
