richmond in the spring
It's the first day of spring! Winter really stresses me out, especially when it lasts as long as this past one did. When it is finally warm enough to go outside, all I want to do is sit on a bench in the sun and get lost on the streets of this city. Finally, I have been able to do that.
Last week, my boyfriend and I decided to have a totally spontaneous afternoon. We had drinks in The Jefferson and then walked down to the Altria Theater and got last minute tickets to see Chicago! It was an awesome surprise and so much fun. The performance was great. It was his first time seeing the musical which made it particularly special. Meanwhile, I was next to him biting my tongue from wanting to join the ensemble. When I was a freshman in high school, we auditioned for show choir with "All That Jazz." I still miss those theater days. The next weekend was equally glorious and I got to take my boyfriend on a few other "firsts." We went to Belle Isle. For me it was the first time these locked doors had been pried open:So, like everyone else, we explored the ruins of and old generator. They used the water from the river to power old trolly cars in Richmond. Now the building is falling apart, but still offers its own charms. Finally, the classic Richmond shot of Libby Hill park:No buds or flowers have started popping up yet, but at least I can enjoy jeans & a t again. I am hoping the rest of the spring is just as glorious.
